banapple pies & cheesecakes

As we always go to our monthly Sta. Clara visit in Quezon City, we always pass by 2 Banapple restaurant situated almost in front of each other. We could see that it is always packed with customers.  Luckily, they have a branch in Greenhills and we tried their food. I ordered for the Baked Fish, which was so delicious to my tasting. Ate Leyza and Kuya Jojo loved their Mango shakes. They also tried the Pasta Lasagna; for sure Josh would love this. The Pork Scallopini was also tasty. They have big serving that could be eaten by two persons.   And of course, we tried their best selling Banoffee cake.

Hemp

I found this  in the bag of Ate Leyza. The Body Shop Hemp Foot Protector. It has a nice smell and it works with my feet! It made is soft and healed my super dry ankle. They also have one for the hands.   I haven’t seen this product here.  All I can say is that I loved it and it works!

Books to E-books and back again

Technology has greatly changed through the years. Books have always been a staple in everyone’s life.  As you turn the pages of the book, you could feel and smell the paper, as it brings you to different destinations and adventures. Now that there are so many e-books in the market, it is so easy to have books in just one IPAD for example. For one thing, it is environment friendly.  As I was reading one book in the ibook, I felt the discomfort of reading from the screen. It was not the same as reading the actual book. So, even though technology has moved forward, I still want my old reliable books.

Pic-A-Boo Photoshoot

My kids are so used to facing the camera since we always do this family pictures a yearly thing.  Getting two kids to face the camera could be challenging, but I never knew how hard it is to get three kids in one picture.  This was taken last March 14, 2012.   We took this rare chance that my children, Josh and Jada where joined in by their first cousin Jaden. We really had a hard time since Jaden just wants to do his own thing. With three kids playing, I don’t think it would be that easy. Luckily, Joy our photographer was so patient with the kids. I think we got our money shot…plus we even got an extra shot with my brothers.

Kris TV

This was the second time I watched a live show, all for the love of my dear sister-in-law Ate Leyza.   Even before arriving in Manila for her 2 ½ weeks vacation, we had put in her schedule to watch Kris Aquino in her morning talk show, Kris TV.

Ate Leyza is her number one fan. She fondly calls Kris "Idol".   Thanks to her best friend Pauline Pajarillo, that made this possible.  Mama Norma was with us as we waited for the show to start.

We watched her live show dated March 5, 2012. Her guests were Gerald Anderson and Enrique Gil.

It was quite a different experience watching a live show. The fans were screaming every time Enrique Gil’s name was called. Gerard aka Budoy was so friendly that Ate Leyza was able to talk a picture of him. Ate Leyza brought her Kris Aquino magazine for her to sign. And we waited since Ate Leyza wants a picture with her, so we waited for at least 30 mins outside her dressing room. Talk about being a fan.  Finally, when she emerges from the room, all adrenaline were high. We just got one shot of Ms. Aquino with Ate Leyza and Mama Norma.

It was worth the wait, that was why went there in the first place. Ate Leyza even framed the magazine with their picture in it. She was so happy. Love, love, love

Puerto Princesa, Palawan

Last Friday, March 2, 2012 we went to Puerto Princesa, Palawan, It was the most awaited vacation since my brother willl be spending some RnR in the Philippines for just 2 ½ weeks. So I have to map out schedules to make the most out of it. It was supposed to be a 10-person vacation that ended up to 15…some were supposed to joined it but due to time and money constraints, it didn’t pushed through.  Anyway, it was a first for everybody to be in Palawan.  We have two flights going to Palawan; first team boarded Air Phil while the second, boarded Air Zest.

We all met in Microtel Puerto Princesa where we are staying for our vacation.  The place was beautiful with the affordable room rates.

The beach was nice, since my children love to walk by the beach looking for hermit crabs and starfishes. Our trip was packed with schedules. After lunch we went on our city tour, we first went to Butterfly farm to heat things up. The girls enjoyed seeing the butterflies and other insects.

Then we headed to the Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center where the crocodiles were staying.  Josh and Jada had no qualms holding a crocodile and a Palawan bear cat.

We were able to see Valentino that was captured last Valentine’s day in the wild.  Valentina was a no show since she was in the breeding site.  Since everybody was hungry we went to Baker’s Hill where we enjoyed eating our snacks and enjoying the site.  The last stop was Pasalubong center where everybody bought something for people in Manila and abroad.  We passed by the Town’s cathedral but wasn’t able to step in due to attire restrictions.  We ate at Kinabuch, Kuya Jojo ordered the woodworm or more commonly knows as Tamilok. A few of us; Kuya Jojo, Niño, Jada and I gamely tried the exotic food. They breaded and deep-fried it so it looks a little bit appetizing.

We had a fast dinner since the Microtel van was picking us up in an hour. Tricycle ride cost P150.00 so better ride in the free shuttle. Everybody was tired when we reached the hotel; some of us sip hot chocolate before heading to bed while Kuya John when on swimming by the hotel’s swimming pool before calling it a day.

Our second day, Saturday was divided into two groups. Kuya Jojo and Niño went to one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, which was the Puerto Princesa Underground River.

Our group composed mainly by the kids went to Honda Bay for our island hopping.

Lunch was provided by the tours. It was a tiring day. We had dinner at KaLui, it was a new experience dining in a restaurant barefooted.

The ambiance was nice and they served seafood only. Dessert was included. As soon as we went back to Microtel, everybody went to sleep, except for Ate Leyza, Niño and I. We walked near the bar and get ourselves one round of drinks before heading to bed.

Sunday, our last day in Palawan, we stayed in the hotel and beach for the morning before heading home.

It was a nice vacation because I was able to spend sometime with my brothers, Kuya Jojo and Niño together with Ate Leyza, Jaden, my favorite aunt Mama Ida, Mama Norma, cousin Kuya John and his family.

This trip will not be possible with the help from Skycrest Travel International. Their staff is so accommodating. They did all the bookings for the hotel and tours. They recommended eating at Kinabuch and Ka Lui.
